International design organisation, aeroDAC, announce that it has been granted extended terms of approval following a recent audit by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). The company is now able to offer an enhanced service that includes supporting flight test activities, approving flight conditions and issuing Permits to Fly.
The extension to aeroDAC’s EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) now also includes some aspects of powerplant activity covering minor modifications and repairs to turbine engines, in addition to major modifications and repairs to piston engines. Very few organisations have similar scope in this respect.
Terry Gibson, aeroDACs Managing Director, says: “With the exception of APUs (Auxiliary Power Units) and propellers, we can now cover the complete EASA product range. This capability, together with our exceptionally wide scope of approval covering activities up to whole aircraft level, allows us to support almost any aviation activity being performed.”
aeroDACs remit now includes flight test management for certification of modifications and repairs; flight test management for research; and flight testing flying for Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) issues. This has resulted in the formation of extensive collaborative partnerships with organisations holding appropriate maintenance and production approvals.
It also covers re-positioning when an aircraft’s C of A is temporarily invalid, for example, transfer of an aircraft during ongoing maintenance or modification activity; operationally restricted flights with unrepaired damage;or flights where the master minimum equipment list or minimum equipment list cannot be complied with.
Prior to its terms of approval being extended, aeroDAC already held a very wide scope of approval. It is also the first DOA holder to be applying direct regulatory experience client-side to solve certification compliance issues in the aerospace sector.
