As Malaysia’s economy grows and develops in a variety of sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture and technology, project delivery becomes an increasingly important success factor. These project deliveries are critical for promoting economic growth, job creation and innovation. However, current project success rates have been less than sufficient. The literature analysis indicated a high rate of project failures that require attention to avoid loss of time and cost within the industries.
This study undertook a quantitative online-based survey questionnaire among 402 experienced project managers across various industries in Malaysia. Structural and measurement models were analysed with partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
The results showed that six out of seven hypotheses testing direct effects and all three hypotheses testing indirect effects were significant.
The study provides a holistic view from leadership and organisational support elements for effective project success among Malaysian private industries.
