AIMS AND SCOPE
Building a Bridge to Practice
AIRM is committed to supporting educators, researchers, business leaders, and policymakers as they navigate today’s complex global landscape. AIRM offers a unique scholarly venue to explore how AI can serve as a catalyst for responsible management across disciplines. Alignment with the core challenges of academia and the global sustainability agenda, AIRM will empower organizations to develop collaborative partnerships and AI-enabled solutions that are ethical and ready for real-world implementation.
AIRM is a joint collaboration between Emerald's leadership in the publishing world and the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), a United Nations-supported initiative that aims to raise the profile of sustainability in business and management education through Seven Principles: Purpose, Values, Teach, Research, Partner, Practice and Share, focused on serving society and safeguarding our planet.
Aims & scope
AIRM is a hybrid, peer-reviewed journal that explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied across key business disciplines, industry and policymaking to address the complex challenges of responsible management. Grounded in the foundational principles of ethics, sustainability, accountability, stakeholder engagement, inclusivity, and transformational leadership, AIRM invites research that reflects the realities of modern organizations: interconnected functions, global pressures, and the urgent need for collaborative solutions. Rather than examining business disciplines in isolation, AIRM encourages transdisciplinary scholarship that investigates how AI can support collaboration with external societal partners—enabling organizations to respond to global challenges with coherence, agility, and integrity. It deeply engages those affected by a problem to focus action and drive socially responsible solutions.
AIRM is designed to reflect the core subject areas taught in academic programs worldwide, with a focus on how AI can help academia, business, and government collaborate to solve real-world problems. The journal welcomes contributions that explore discipline-specific challenges while emphasizing the need for cross-functional understanding and integrated approaches. Some suggestions include using AI in the following sectors.
- Ethics and Corporate Governance
- Sustainability and Global Strategy
- Leadership and Organizational Behaviour
- Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement
- Operations and Supply Chain Management
- Finance and ESG Reporting
- Human Resources and Inclusive Cultures
AIRM encourages submissions that not only address these challenges but also explore how AI can facilitate collaboration across functions—leading to visionary yet implementable partnerships.
