Taxonomy in biology is concerned with the definition of classes or organisms in the furtherance of our knowledge of these (whatever the ultimate purpose served by this knowledge). It uses systematic grouping as a prime instrument, since all definition implies classification (and vice‐versa) and classification provides an orderly arrangement which facilitates the handling and comprehension of the vast body of data involved.
