Fishery products and live shellfish
New Regulations have introduced hygiene inspection charges for fishery products landed by EU vessels and fishery products entering preparation and processing plants from 30 June 1999. They also amend rules for direct transfers of live shellfish and fishery products to local markets and rules on the application of regulations to auction and wholesale markets.
The Food Safety (Fishery Products and Live Shellfish) (Hygiene) Amendment(No. 2) Regulations 1999 amend the Food Safety (Fishery Products and Live Shellfish) (Hygiene) Regulations 1998 to implement outstanding requirements of Council Directive 96/43/EC.
The Regulations apply to England, Wales and Scotland; parallel Regulations will come into force in Northern Ireland. Copies of the Regulations and a guidance note have been issued to local food authorities, trade and other interested bodies.
