BST: Assessing Its Impact on Milk Consumption

There are many examples of society benefiting from the adoption of new technologies. Today, a number of questions have been raised in relation to new technologies, especially biotechnologies. Some of these apply to agriculture and have created considerable concern because of their potential impact on supplies, in a highly regulated and oversupplied market, and the potential negative impact on consumption. This article is based on a report published in 1989 by CEAS Consultants(Wye) Ltd for the UK National Office of Animal Health. Conducting research in this area has many pitfalls for the unwary. Authoritative research on the potential impact has still to be done; yet the issues deserve much more detailed attention as they are relevant to considering the future consumption of other products.
