Classifies the food manufacturers into: volume seekers;followers; and raw material seekers. Also classifies their market entry strategies as exporters, joint‐venturers and manufacturers. Goes on to analyse the countries of the CIS and eastern Europe in terms of their attractiveness to food manufacturers. Classifies them into four groups on the basis of their scores on key market criteria. Identifies positive and negative factors for each group.
