The Gates Learning Foundation (GLF) will distribute over $11 million to California public libraries in underserved communities so they can purchase computers, Internet access, and training. In addition, the Microsoft Corporation will donate software with an estimated value of $8 million to the libraries receiving GLF grants. Depending on the library's size it can receive up to seven computers with printers and networking equipment and three years of technical support and training for the staff. California is the ninth state where Gates Library Initiative grants have been announced.
