Informal Discussion on Education and training of engineers and technicians
This introductory note is confined to a discussion of the part played by firms of consulting engineers in the U.K. in providing facilities for training in Great Britain for students, graduates and, in a few cases, qualified engineers from overseas. Applications for such training and experience generally fall into one of two categories.
Firstly, there are the applications from overseas students who have completed a course in engineering at a university or technical college in Great Britain and wish to have a further three years' practical experience, leading to qualification as A.M.I.C.E., before returning to their own country.
