Mr Braint has mentioned the value of transferring data from
estimating computer packages onwards to assist in the
monitoring and control of site work.
In his organisation, do all the construction sites have
computers which can accept the data produced by the estimating
programs? If so, are the data transferred by electronic means
(or by disc or tape), or do they have to be re-inputted from
printed output?
MR BRAINT
Only our major construction sites have a land-line link to the computer at Foundation House.
The data produced by the estimating programs form the basis for cost control systems, but a significant amount of re-allocation is necessary to provide tender allowances against which performance can readily be measured.
