Closing address

It has been shown that progress has been made and there have been developments since the 1920s, even though gravity and the same biological processes are used.

The Conference began with an inspiring address from Mr Eldon Griffiths. He said that money will be available and that it is the politician's job to make the money available. I am sure there is a demand in Britain for cleaner rivers and better sewage works and it is nice to know this. Then he said he expected good results from research and experiments being done on physical-chemical methods of treatment. This has been referred to throughout the Conference but I think there will be evolution and not revolution. Everyone is hoping there will soon be revolutionary changes in techniques and I think the politicans hope and expect this more than the technicians; but today it has not come, it is evolution that is taking place.
