A contributor asked for some indication of the extra investment required to meet predicted climate change scenarios and whether this had been compared to the costs of rectifying problems as they became apparent.

Mr Fenn and Mr Hewett replied that the necessary investment had not been calculated using this type of comparison, however the additional costs of accounting for climate change would be best assessed when individual projects were completed.

In referring to the strategic transfer scheme, outlined by Dr Swinnerton in the first presentation, Mr Child of the NRA asked if the needs of agriculture, industry and the environment and not just the needs of the domestic consumer had been considered in the plans.
