Chapter 6: The Legal Challenges Raised by BIM

This Chapter makes it clear that BIM cannot be simply considered as being about technical matters, the legal and contractual issues are equally important. How BIM may be incorporated into appointments / contracts is dealt with, and a legal checklist which is applicable irrespective of how BIM is incorporated into appointments / contracts is set out in this Chapter. The UK BIM Alliance (now named as ‘Nima’), and the Global BIM Network which contribute towards cross-sector and/or international alliances in respect of BIM are explained.
