The use of pozzolanic materials has gained significance in the wake of the substantial emphasis on the conversion of waste into potential building materials. Use of industrial wastes like fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag as supplementary cementing materials in cement and concrete are well known and indeed, practiced for many years in various countries. Structures like Nuclear Reactors, Storage Tanks and buildings during fire accidents are subjected to elevated temperatures. The use of blended cement in the above said structures necessitated study of behavior under elevated temperatures. In this research work, an attempt has been made to compare compressive strengths of M60 concretes made with two types of cements namely blended cement and 53 grade Ordinary Portland cement. It is concluded that the performance of blended cement concrete is superior to that of Ordinary Portland cement concrete exhibiting a similar loss of strength within the test parameters.
