The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of elevated temperatures upon the properties of concrete. A stress-strain relationship, and strength behaviour are studied. The test programme has been carried out using a stiff compression testing machine equipped with an electrical furnace. In order to simulate realistic conditions, a temperature range of 20-800° C has been used corresponding to the temperatures generally attained during an actual fire. The results show that the properties of concrete are significantly affected by temperature. In this work the effect of pre-road has been examined. This work is in fact an attempt to provide some results in order to help formulating models for the prediction of structural behaviour in a fire.
