This paper summarises the planning and construction of three artificial nesting structures that are being installed along the East Coast of England, which are required as a part of the Development Consent Order for the Hornsea 3 Offshore Windfarm. This requirement forms part of the ecological compensation measures for a vulnerable seabird species whose populations could be affected by wind farms – the Black-legged kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla).
