Steam used to drive the turbine generators at Sizewell ‘B’ Nuclear Power Station is cooled by passing through condensers where heat is transferred to cool sea water pimped through the Cooling Water System. The paper describes the initial investigations, design, and construction of the offshore tunnels used to draw cool water from 800m offshore and discharge the warmed water 200m offshore.
