Selected wastes generated by the fertilizer, power generation and steel industries are commonly applied in concrete. However, it is not only useful as cementitious materials, but they can be employed in other applications too. Given the correct treatment and processing, such materials can even find uses in a completely different field, like water treatment. This investigation will describe work done to characterize the composites filters with regard to their physical properties with reference to their suitability to water filters. These filters can potentially be used to remove various contaminants form industrial effluents.
