The modern field of advanced education has been shaped by generations of scholars committed to improving schooling and services for advanced learners. At the 2008 and 2009 National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) conferences, such eminent scholars were interviewed and described their hopes for reforming and improving the field in the future. In this essay, we share their insights related to the themes of equity, the public arena, research, and student and caretaker agency and convey how the themes relate to future next steps for reform.
