Abstract
Tunisia is a leading tourist destination, renowned for its rich cultural and architectural heritage. This provides architects and space designers with the opportunity to redesign interior spaces that authentically reflect the country’s identity. This chapter focuses on integrating smart technology into the design of tourist facilities, aiming to preserve architectural heritage and enhance the visitor experience. It highlights Tunisia’s architectural diversity, focusing on landmarks such as the Old Medina and Carthage, emphasizing their importance in attracting international tourists. It also discusses the role of technologies like virtual reality and artificial intelligence in creating interactive experiences that deepen visitors’ connection to local culture. The chapter emphasizes the role of space designers in crafting environments that merge traditional elements with modern technology, achieving a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Examples of successful projects that blend heritage with contemporary design are presented, showing how these initiatives enhance the appeal of tourist facilities and support the local economy. The conclusion stresses the importance of sustainability in preserving heritage and highlights the role of designers in enriching tourist experiences through collaboration with local communities.
