Opening Address

It is a very great pleasure to me to make the opening address at this first International Conference on Uranium Isotope Separation to be held in Europe. It is also most appropriate that this conference should be jointly sponsored by the British Nuclear Energy Society and Kerntechnische Gesellschaft. As many of you will know, the first International Conference on Isotope Separation of Uranium was held at Reston in the USA last May, and the fact that less than a year later this conference in London has attracted such a large representation is a clear indication of the very great importance now being attached to this subject.
