DR HASHMI: Yes, we intend to perform experiments.

Did the authors of Paper 10 notice any effects
of critical velocities?
MR JAMES: We saw no direct effects of the criti cal velocity. The electrode voltage did reach a steady value during the current probe; however, when gases other than neon were used, the voltage did not scale as the square root of the ioniza tion energy per unit mass, as would be expected if voltage limitation was occurring as a result of the critical voltage being reached in the flow.
