This paper presents a practical procedure for artificial pocket beach outline designs. Based on the parabolic beach bay model, it is proposed to delineate the diffraction zones and optimize the plan view of the artificial beach bay through fine-tuning the bay depth to ensure minimum stable beach slope width throughout the beach bay. Major considerations of beach profile design are also presented. Applications of numerical models are briefed. Two examples are described to demonstrate the applications of the design procedure.
