Mr. C. Jolly (C.A. Parsons & Co. Ltd.,) asked if T'o?. Read had considered any photoelastic model work for this sort of problem.

Mr. Read replied that the trouble with laboratory work was that it had to be done either on models, or on small parts of structures. They wanted to be able to test full sized structures under normal operating conditions. Models certainly had a part to play but their: had also to be tests on the actual structures.
