Introduction to the Yearbook Tributes

This introduction foregrounds the 27 tributes contained in the four-volume set of ISATT's 40th Anniversary Yearbook. I bring together themes that have consistently emerged in the tributes that speak to the character of ISATT and what ISATT has meant to its members over the past four decades.

I also take the opportunity to honor two ISATT founders whose contributions cannot go unmentioned: that of Rob Halkes and Alan Brown. My thanks go to Chris Clark, Maureen Pope, Theo Wubbels, and John Olson for their background assistance. However, first, allow me the opportunity to explain how the tributes were brought together.
