First page of Why Lewis and Classical Economics?

Thanks to the work of Mauro Boianovsky, it is possible to place the “classical” model of Lewis in the broader context of the formation of development economics, on the one hand, and of the theory of growth on the other. I believe that, at the moment, there is no accurate and complete investigation of the reciprocal influences between development economics and growth theory. Both these strands of research have been developing impetuously since the 1950s, but the general framework within which there is “coexistence” between these two approaches has not yet been clarified. Boianovsky’s contribution is also significant for this reason.
