Introduction

The foresight required by the contemporary world must provide comprehensive answers to the acute questions arising from this relevant historical moment, especially from the Global South. We are witnessing a turning point in the contemporary world, as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict crisis, the accumulation of crises derived from the COVID-19 pandemic, high inflation, among others. In Latin America, there is also the lost decade of growth in the region between 2010 and 2019, the legacy of historical inequalities, and so on. The techno-economic forces driven by globalisation alone do not explain all the structural change underway. All this is leading to a breakdown of the planetary order that has been in place since the 1990s, with unsuspected repercussions.
