First page of Culturally Responsive Digital Learning in Postsecondary Education

The study of the intersection of digital tools and environments and culturally responsive teaching and learning is both vast and ever changing in scope and focus given the social and cultural values and political conditions which act upon it. As educators in the postsecondary setting, we must investigate and understand the affordances and barriers that digital technologies offer and the ways in which they can support meaningful and equitable learning for all students. In doing so, we effectively and ethically guide how these tools and approaches impact “how individuals behave, communicate, and interact within a changing society” (Shonfeld et al., 2017, p. 40). Educators in institutions of higher education (IHE) should also commit to using these tools through the lens of culturally responsive teaching (CRT).
