Abstract
This chapter is a personal reflection on my participation in the immersion experience within the Ndebele context. Drawing on the history of Ndebele beadwork as well as what beaded designs communicate both symbolically and mathematically, I highlight the potential role that indigenous cultures play in producing, appropriating, and disseminating mathematical ideas.
