How can academic authorities be creative and innovative enough in managing resources to bring about change that suits the current turbulent environment? In this chapter, we sketch out alternatives to the discussion of challenges observed by academic authorities and reframe these challenges by drawing from the resource mobilization for entrepreneurial opportunities literature. We address the importance of HE resource coordination and reallocation and how it can help academic authorities to manage better and make the decision over resources which may subsequently bring about change that suits the current turbulent environment. We suggest four propositions that can guide future research for developing effective academic authorities and provide a list of conditions to support academic cum managers in contributing to active, involved and crucial decision making in HE institutions. Following this agenda may induce academic authorities to explore new ways of addressing challenges for their HEI, which may result in significant changes in their practices and values, particularly concerning academic cultures, work contexts, and outcomes.
