Chapter 9: Local Berea College Student

I have lived in Berea my whole life, and I knew that Berea College would be a great place to attend school. The college has so many wonderful opportunities for students that struggle with money. I knew I wanted to stay close to home because I wanted my family to be able to watch me play softball in college. Berea College is a very overwhelming school, and there is a lot of pressure that is placed on first-years to transition into a rigorous schedule. Not only do students have to go to classes, but they are also required to work at the college as well. I love that Berea College gives students who struggle with paying for college, like myself, the opportunity to get a great education with little pay. Most students struggle their first semester because you have to be on the ball with everything in order to keep up. For student athletes like myself, our schedule is even more overwhelming to keep up with because that is just another activity that needs our attention just as much as the other ones. Although Berea College is hard, there are so many beneficial aspects of coming here for school that not only makes you a better student, but a better person as well.
