For the purpose of this survey, social media is made up of the following commonalities: (a) Web 2.0 Internet-based applications, (b) user-generated content, (c) the user profile, and (d) the ability to facilitate the development of social networks.
Opening script: To start, I want you to know the definition of “social media” that we gave the students yesterday. We let them know that social media was anything that (a) had a user profile, (b) had the ability for social networking, and (c) consisted of user-generated content.
