This chapter explores the literacy experiences of immigrant African women using transformative learning (TL). The chapter focuses on the literacy opportunities of this population, paying attention to how such experiences lead to critical reflection and shared understanding of women and their role and place in African societies. TL theory is used to explore the learning experiences of African immigrant women and to point out prospective lessons and how these lessons can be adapted and extended to other arenas of African gender concerns.
