The authors argue that effective leadership in higher education increasingly needs to recognize the different cultures within the academy and draw on interdisciplinary/intercultural (IDIC) leadership skills to communicate (and learn) “interculturally”—and with this to lead a common change agenda across these embedded cultures. Marymount California University is presented as a case study to demonstrate ways leadership can catalyze IDIC interactions to facilitate effective institutional transformation.
