Accommodations: Changes that provide access to participate in a course, standard, or test. An accommodation DOES NOT fundamentally alter or lower the course/test standards or expectations. Students with a disability addressed by a 504 Plan may have an accommodation; students with an individualized education program (IEP) may also have accommodations if there is an educational need for such. Accommodations include environmental adaptations, large print, guided notes, color coding, assistive technology, assignment reduction, testing adaptations, increased time, quiet setting, etc..
Assistive Technology: Any kind of technology that enhances functional independence, including anything from a low-tech device such as raised lines on paper, to a high-tech computerized communication system.
