On October 5, 2017, the New York Times outlined egregious and violent behavior by entertainment mogul Harvey Weinstein—decades-long patterns of rape, harassment, intimidation, and retaliation (Kantor & Twohey, 2017). In subsequent reports, the role of other leaders within the organization and the industry as a whole demonstrated that this individual behavior was supported by the system and culture of the entertainment industry (Farrow, 2017). These reports also concluded that the dynamics of phenomena— the direct actions of Mr. Weinstein, the systems’ omission to hold Mr. Weinstein accountable, and the mentality within the culture—were harmful to the victims’ survival, well-being, freedom, and identity. Mr. Weinstein was the center of multidimensional violence within his company and the entertainment industry more broadly.
