Dr. Stephen D. Hancock is an associate professor of multicultural education in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education at UNC Charlotte where he also serves as the assistant director of the Urban Education Collaborative. He is an international visiting professor at the Pedagogische Hocshule in Ludwigsburg, Germany, where he teaches courses in diversity and globalization. Dr. Hancock’s research interest supports the culture of reading for young children, constructive academic relationships in multiethnic classrooms, image and identity of teachers, and critical autoethnographic research methodologies and theory. His work has been published in Urban Education, Teacher Education and Practice, The Journal of Curriculum and Pedagogy, and The Harvard Educational Review.
