Sport can be seen as one of the most central constructs, we are confronting us during our everyday life. As a work–life balancing tool or to break out of the routines, we are bonded to during our everyday life. Sport is omnipresent in the twenty-one century. We all know how to define sport, meanwhile we all define it slightly differently. Where we all find common ground is that sport is relying on movement, but what does that mean? Based on phenomenological and cultural psychological (Valsiner, 2014) elaborations, the complex nature of sport will be reintroduced in a new light. In this process the crucial factor of movement will be analyzed and elaborated by specific sport examples. Highlighting crucial changes in the development of our today’s understanding of sport, while introducing its highly complex interrelation with the performing athletes and the environment embedded in. Leading once to the meaningful role of minimal movement in sports and to the role of sport in our everyday life.
