F. James Rutherford was an influential 20th century science educator who was part of several major reform periods in the United States. As a post-Sputnik science teacher, Rutherford was a primary author of Harvard Project Physics. He held many national science education leadership posts and led the American Association of Advancement of Science’s Project 2061. Additionally, Rutherford has mentored many science educators who are still leaders in the national efforts to reform science in America.
