This paper presents GenWeb, a generator of a complex structure of Web pages for learning finance terminology. A study on learning foreign terminology in finance [Vit99] was the starting point in the discovery of two important goals to be solved by a computer-based learning system: conceptualization and immersion (Trausan-Matu, 1999).

The conceptual map of the considered domain is filtered according to the learner model, and the structure of concepts considered as relevant are mapped in a network of Web pages. Each concept is a Web page and each relationship is an arc. This mapping is assured by generating the Web pages and relationships between them, starting from an ontology of the domain. The ontology, the network of Web pages, and the conceptual map to be induced in the mind of the learner, have a similar (semantic network-like) structure.

The generated Web pages are intended to give a context of immersion for the learners, making use of the capabilities provided by Web browsers. The immersion is sustained also by typical documents, concordances, and metaphor processing.
