Significant focus has been dedicated to serving diverse demographics in the academy through the implementation of multicultural education. Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have been successful in their approach of providing all students with an inviting campus climate in comparison to the often-detached environments found at predominantly White institutions. Although limited, research has identified strengths and weaknesses of multicultural education at HBCUs by way of themes such as curricular multiculturalism, diverse faculty, student identity development, and diversity outcomes. This chapter will delve into ways that administrators and faculty at HBCUs can collectively work together to promote and improve diversity and inclusivity outcomes at their institutions.
