Abstract
This chapter is an intra-national/intra-cultural comparative study of the global citizenship education in the primary social education curricula in the two Chinese cities of Shanghai and Hong Kong. Utilizing both quantitative and qualitative approaches to textbook /documentary analysis, it aims to analyze the similarities and differences, divergences and convergences, as well as pluses and minuses, in the development of the global citizenship education of the two cities in their attempts to equip students for the knowledge, skills and attitudes/values required to face the challenges of the increasingly globalized world, in addition to exploring possible alternatives for the betterment of their social education curricula in the age of globalization.
