This chapter identifies and maps pedagogical innovations implemented in teacher education programmes and professional learning initiatives for developing teachers’ knowledge and skills. The review examines how these innovations prepare teachers for future educational needs and challenges. A search using Web of Science, APA PsycINFO, Scopus, Google Scholar, and ERIC databases was conducted with relevant publications between 2014 and 2024, resulting in a sample of 54 articles. Several innovations were identified, including newly developed pedagogies, teacher training programmes with microteaching involving digital tools and self-reflection protocols, and teaching models with innovative practice. Most innovations aimed to develop teachers’ technological skills, pedagogical content knowledge, adaptability, and cultural competence depending on contextual factors. Pedagogical innovations within teacher professional learning show potential for preparing adaptive, culturally responsive teachers, which implies that broader contextualisation and the integration of emerging technologies require attention to maintain relevance and efficacy over time.
