The author reflects on an incident of mass cheating by students on a Midterm examination in a university Educational Psychology course, and discusses how he utilized this instance as an opportunity for contemplation, learning, and growth for his students as well as for himself. This incident raises in microcosm larger macro issues of cause and effect, neoliberal educational and societal policies, competition, standardization, democratic education, alternate pedagogies, and the current state of U.S.-American education.
