Chapter 52: Local Authorities and Monitoring

The legislator, through three successive “acts” from 1982 to the present day, has profoundly modified the functioning of local authorities and drawn a new panorama of the organization of the French administration. Local communities have consequently become major players in economic, social and cultural life. Territorial monitoring was gradually put in place, with the aim of better adapting public services to the needs of citizens.
