This study examined the efficacy of the First Step to Success (FSS) early intervention program on alleviating social-emotional and behavioral problems in Turkish children and the collateral effects of this intervention on the behaviors of the teachers, parents, and the overall classroom environment. Participants were four, 7 year old first grade students in Turkey who were identified with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and as having increasing risk for developing antisocial behavior patterns. The design was a single subject multiple baseline across groups design. The results indicated that all participating Turkish children displayed increased levels of academic engagement behavior and decreased levels of social-emotional problems and problem be haviors with the introduction of the program and at three months follow-up. Research findings are discussed and implications for practice are provided.
