Chapter 3: The Formation of a Political Identity in Korean American Students: A Case Study

This case study examines factors that most contributed to the formation of a political identity in one particular group of Korean American college students. The onset of a political ideology fostered self-reflection and critical investigation, impacting students’ decisions throughout their educational development. As this study reveals, Asian American students are adopting political dialogue as an opportunity to initiate and enact change. How this process begins in these Korean American college students is described and analyzed in this chapter.
