As Chinese immigrant children socialize with other Chinese individuals, not only those residing in the United States but also in China, they create unique transnational social spaces. This study describes how within these spaces a great deal of information is disseminated from Chinese who have experienced American schools to the Chinese newcomers. Issues such as the less advanced curriculum in the United States, the academic advantages of being educated in China, the need to learn English, and the strategies to navigate the social spaces in school to avoid discrimination are among the themes shared with Chinese immigrants about U.S. schools.
