“If the pursuit of equity is to redress inequalities and contribute to social change, attention must be paid not only to the desired outcomes, but also to the processes by which these are achieved. Qualitative research provides the ideological basis for seeking needed modifications and the tools to monitor process. In particular, arts-based qualitative inquiry offers aesthetic and representational opportunities to alter profoundly the way we understand both process and outcome. The exciting aspect of this kind of work is that it expands the possibilities, through variation and beauty, for discovering new ways of thinking and doing. It offers hope that genuine change may be realized.”
