“Career decision-making is considered to be a lifelong process and a very important skill to be taught in education and career-counseling programs” (Zunker, 1990, p. 49). Trusty, Niles, & Carney (2005) believe that students become intentional in their educational and career planning when an effective education-career plan is in place. Successful school counseling programs make educational planning a key part of its program. The educational planning component needs to center on helping the students and parents make the connection between school and career planning, setting goals and selecting academic courses and scholastic experiences that support career goals (Hobson & Phillips, 2004).
